Certain artists just stick with you, every release gives you a little rush. For me, Chelou is one of those artists. North London based Chelou has built a loyal and loving fan base since 2015’s The Quiet EP; musically weaving a line between acoustic folk, synth-psychedelic and grunge. A string of successful EPs, acclaimed live performances, the viral hit ‘Halfway to Nowhere’ produced by Maya Jane Coles, and the launch of his label Concrete Dog Records, it feels like Chelou is an artist at the beginning of a meteoric rise.
‘Damned Eye See’ is the first new music from Chelou in 2017, and comes off the back of the announcement that he’s embarking on a 18 date European and UK tour. The track is inspired by Chelou reading the newspaper everyday and feeling that ‘shit’s going south’, however he brings his characteristic DIY-influenced beauty to even the most depressing subject matter.
