Hak Baker is a singer/songwriter hailing from London’s historic East End. As a teenager, Hak was active in the area’s thriving Grime scene, but an introduction to the music of British band, Daughter, inspired a drastic change in his approach to creating his own music.

Moving away from the frenetic electronics of Grime, Hak picked up a guitar and instead became a modern-day troubadour of sorts. Perhaps the best introduction to his music is, Conundrum, an honest, emotive folk-pop ballad, sprinkled with cockney-rhyming-slang and sharp observations, that provides a vivid snapshot of growing up in his hometown. The accompanying video further fleshes out the imagery that Hak’s lyrics conjure up. Have a watch above.
