HORIZON 2018 is now very much on the horizon and we couldn’t be more excited! Taking place on the 1st and 8th of February, this year’s event has a slightly different feel to previous editions of HORIZON, because this year the Mahogany Sessions and Mahogany Blog teams have decided to curate one night of HORIZON each, to bring you an even wider array of talent than ever before.

The Sessions team kick proceedings off on the 1st February with HORIZON 2018: Mahogany Sessions Live, so before then, we wanted to introduce you to the handpicked acts that will be performing on the night.

Fenne Lily

Though she’s shared just a handful of songs so far, it’s fast becoming clear that Fenne Lily is one of the finest singer/songwriters to emerge from the UK in recent years. Armed with an utterly captivating voice, the Bristol-based musician elegantly crafts sparse, intimate folk ballads that are woven with integrity and sincerity; grit and soft understatement in equal measures. Primed for a huge year in 2018, Fenne’s HORIZON set is one not to be missed.

Lila Vargen

The return of Northern Irish singer/songwriter, Lilla Vargen, was one of our highlights of 2017. Having wowed with a pair of demos back in 2015, the Ballymena-based songstress went off-grid for a couple of years to hone her skills, only returning towards the end of 2017 to unveil her stunning debut EP. Showcasing Lilla’s beautiful vocals and honest approach to songwriting, the three track effort was just a taste of what to expect from this hugely promising newcomer.

They might not be the best at spelling, but North London duo, KAWALA, certainly know how to make great music. Having earned a reputation for putting on incredible live shows with a series of raucous gigs around Camden and their hometown of Kentish Town, the pair released their debut single at the end of last year to widespread acclaim.

Skinny Living

Skinny Living’s story is one of relentless hard graft and an unflinching belief that their glorious acoustic soul – with its echoes of Bill Withers, the Isley Brothers and Paulo Nutini – would win out. And winning out it is, with a timeless, gentle beauty and lyrical wisdom far beyond the band’s years. Now signed to the legendary RCA label, Skinny Living bring their incredible live show, honed over several years of self-financed European tours, to the HORIZON stage on the 1st February.
