It’s been three years since we first came across the young North London duo, KAWALA. Back then, the pair had uploaded only a couple of demos to their SoundCloud page, but we were so impressed we invited them to perform on the Mahogany Sessions. They repaid our faith by delivering a pair of wonderful Sessions, but then decided to spend time honing their craft and perfecting their sound, rather than rushing music out.

Today, KAWALA are finally ready to unveil their debut single, Small Death, along with its accompanying video and we’re pleased to announce it’s been more than worth the wait.

An examination of the cycle of addiction, Small Death takes its sonic cues from the likes of Glass Animals and Bombay Bicycle Cub and showcases KAWALA’s impressive songwriting ability and ear for seriously catchy hooks. The accompanying video follows band members, Jim and Dan, on a day out and about in their hometown of Kentish Town, introducing us to the array of characters they interact with on a daily basis.

Watch the video for Small Death in full above and be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled for much more from KAWALA in 2018.
