We’re big fans of Mac Ayres here at Mahogany, but you probably know that already. We crowned his single, Lonely, our Track of the Week last month and raved about how much we were looking forward to his debut album, Drive Slow.

Well today is the day that Mac finally shares Drive Slow with the world and we couldn’t be more impressed.

With guest features limited to just an appearance each from Maryland rapper, Innanet James, and Californian multi-instrumentalist, Castelluzzo, Mac’s talents are placed firmly in the spotlight. And he does not disappoint. Over the course of the record’s nine tracks, Mac marries elements of hip-hop, soul and jazz, to create rich, textured soundscapes over which his silky-smooth vocals glide effortlessly.

Drive Slow sounds like the end product of a D’Angelo and J Dilla recording session and is one of the finest examples of neo-soul we’ve heard in years. Take a listen below.
