Norwegian artist Thomas Dybdahl is back with his brand new EP, ‘Thomas Dybdahl & In The Country’ which will be available to buy on Vinyl and digital soon.

Dybdahl’s sound is simply stunning. His music draws influences from so many genres including Jazz, Soul and Funk, and his Grammy award-winning back catalogue boasts hours of blissful tunes that I would seriously urge anyone with some time to sit back, relax and enjoy!

Hi, my name is… Thomas Dybdahl.

My parents… raised me good. At least they did their best.

I was born… in Stavanger, Norway on April 12th 1979.

Now you can find me… in my home or in my studio in Stavanger. That is, if I’m not on the road playing shows or staying in Venice, California writing new songs with some of my writing partners there. The pacific ocean is mind blowing, can’t get enough of the California coastline.

It all started when… a singularity etc etc. No, it all started when my brothers introduced me to Prince. Especially the live concert video from the Lovesexy tour. Wow, must have seen it 100 times. He was a god in my eyes. Still is pretty hip.

Music has… been my life for almost as long as I can remember. First it was lip syncing and dancing to Prince and Michael Jackson, then on to guitar playing (believe it or not, I was a shredder), then on to song writing, then on to performing and recording/producing. It might be the only thing I know how to do well, come to think of it.

If I’m not on stage or in the studio… I’m out fishing with my son. He is absolutely nuts about the sea and all life in it. I am too, to be honest. If he ends up being a marine biologist on Hawaii I’m not complaining.

The music industry… is a harsh mistress, to quote the great Jimmy Webb. I don’t even really know what/who the music business is half of the time, but I think Gillian Welch was on to something when she sang “Everything is free” on her amazing record Time (the revelator). It’s such a passion and lifestyle driven way of life, that you will always find someone willing to do it for next to nothing. But I am not complaining. I have a good life and I do what I absolutely love. I am optimistic about the future and I am done being anybody’s bitch. Talent will always have value.

I’ve never been… much of a talker.

I wish… my son didn’t have to grow up in a polluted, war torn, religion ruled world like it sure seems to be on the darkest days. But kids now seem much cooler and smarter then I remember myself being. I think they’ll be alright.

One song… to rule them all: Wichita Lineman.

If I’ve learnt something in the past three years… it’s that life never stops surprising you and that I should always take an extra moment before judging anybody’s actions or words.

This years highlight… has yet to come; Sun Kil Moon is releasing a new album later this year!

If you listen to my music for first time… then I’ll shut up and leave you to it.
