Welcome to the Monday Digest. This weekly feature (published every Monday at 5.45 GMT) is designed to fit one of the many voids that a Monday typically tends to create. So whether you’re travelling to and from your workplace, or at home with the kids, or accessing wifi – join us in starting the week with some positive aural and visual delights.
Lets start with the walk-to-work song which intended to inspire those first few hundred meters out of the door. This week it’s brought to you by Darius and his gentle remix of The Magician’s hit ‘Sunlight’.
The musical theme for the todays playlist is the acclaimed producer and musician Bonobo, but more specifically, the plethora of incredibly talented artists that have featured on his records over the years.
Time now for something visual from UK artist and producer Brolin which is going to make those with loving partners feel really good about themselves, and it leave singletons getting back on Tinder or Guardian Soulmates in a bid to forge something for tomorrow morning.
On this day in 1990, Vanilla Ice started a four-week run at No.1 in the UK with the single ‘Ice Ice Baby’. The track sampled the bass intro to the Queen and David Bowie No.1 ‘Under Pressure’. ‘Ice Ice Baby’ was initially released as the B-side to the rapper’s cover of ‘Play That Funky Music’, and became the A-side after US DJ’s started playing it.
See you next week x
