We first wrote about the London-based soulstress, Million Miles, back in August following the release of her impressive debut single, Ice Cream & Cigarettes. The musical project of Parisian, Sophie Baudry, Million Miles returned at the end of last week to share debut EP, Berry Hill and it’s safe to say the record doesn’t disappoint.

Recorded in Nashville, Tennessee over the course of a year, Berry Hill opens with the sun-soaked soul of Ice Cream & Cigarettes, which sets the tone for the blues-infused soul heard across the rest of the four track effort. It’s followed by the strutting Can’t Get Around A Broken Heart, which finds Baudry taking a failing lover to task and was recorded live in one take, straight to tape. For the record’s stand-out track, Your Mama, Baudry strip things right back, with her sweet and effortlessly blusey voice accompanied by nothing more than an acoustic guitar, before returning to familiar sonic ground on closer, Love Like Yours.

Showcasing her rich, warm vocals and unquestionable songwriting ability, Berry Hill is a very strong first offering and serves as notice that Million Miles is an artist to pay close attention to. Listen to Berry Hill in full below.
