With spring now sprung and summer finally on the horizon, my search for the records to soundtrack the (hopefully!) sun-drenched days ahead has begun. The first of these records comes in the shape of Zero, the beautifully hypnotic new EP from South London soul siren, Ego Ella May.

Having impressed critics and fans alike with last year’s Breathing Underwater, Ego Ella May looks set for more plaudits with the release of this gorgeously laid-back new EP. Comprised of three tracks and drawing influence from neo-soul, hip-hop, jazz and spoken word, Zero perfectly showcases May’s sultry, seductive vocals and adds weight to the growing belief that she may just be the UK’s answer to Jill Scott and Erykah Badu.

Give Zero a listen below and, if you like it, you can download a copy via Ego Ella May’s Bandcamp page for free.
