Rhys Lewis, has had quite the year so far. Aside from the four singles he’s released this year, which have won him widespread praise, racking up close to 10 million streams on Spotify alone, he’s also announced a headline UK and European tour which is on the verge of selling out. Oh, and he bagged himself a support spot on JP Cooper’s current European tour. So yeah, a pretty amazing 12 months for the hotly-tipped young singer/song writer from London.

With momentum fully on his side, Rhys returns today to share his most intimate song to date, the poignant and sincere, Reason To Hate You.

Recorded live in one take, the track finds Rhys accompanied by nothing more than a guitar, the pain in his voice evident as he reflects on the ending of a relationship. Talking about the track, Rhys explains it was written about a past relationship that “just wasn’t quite working. It was hard for me to accept the situation, or find any reason to stop loving her. There was nothing negative to walk away from, and I remember thinking – I wish she’d cheated on me or met someone else, because it would be so much easier to get over her.”
