It’s fair to say that the team here at Mahogany HQ are big Seramic fans. Since blowing us away last year with his Mahogany Session, the London based electro-soul/funk act has continued to make his mark with a string of impressive releases. This winning streak continues in the shape of his latest EP, I Got You.
I Got You is the kind of modern funk record that will have you wanting to get up and dance, a feeling furthered by a guest appearance from funk pioneer, Bootsy Collins. Saying all that, the final track on the EP, Trying, is something totally different. Starting out as a simple yet soulful, piano-driven ballad, Trying gradually builds to a gospel-choir assisted crescendo and acts as a great showcase of Seramic’s impressive vocals. Dive into Trying and the rest of I Got You below and revisit Seramic’s fantastic Mahogany Session here.
