Last week saw the release of Ultralife, the new album from Oh Wonder and the follow up to their hugely successful self-titled debut. In what was a busy week, Mura Masa and Japanese Breakfast also shared new albums, whilst Lana Del Rey, Coldplay, Vance Joy and Tyler the Creator all released new music over the last seven days.
As usual, we’ve added all our favourite new releases to our Monday Digest playlist on Spotify, which you can listen to below.
Standout new music videos from last week were provided by Kesha, Arcade Fire and alt-J, who ‘resurrected’ Anne Boleyn and Sylvia Plath to star in the video for their single Deadcrush. Moses Sumney also treated us to a live performance video of his latest single, Doomed, to coincide with the announcement of a release date for his debut album. Shot at at St Stephens Uniting Church in Sydney, Australia, Moses delivers a flawless performance whilst showing off his incredible vocal range.
Last week also marked the 5 year anniversary of the release of Frank Ocean’s critically acclaimed album, Channel Orange. To celebrate the occasion, we dedicated this weekend’s Five For You to the music of the man born Christopher Edwin Breaux. You can watch one of our picks below and can read the article in full here.
Our final treat for you today comes from France, where last week the nation celebrated Bastille Day. As part of this year’s celebrations, a Paris marching band performed a medley of hits by French musical legends, Daft Punk. We think it’s great fun, so have a watch below and keep your eyes peeled for some familiar faces in the crowd…
