We’d never come across a band named after a supermarket before today. Then we stumbled upon Manchester-based W.H. Lung. and their synth-heavy strain of awesome psychedelia.

Formed by a group of school friends who have been playing music together for years, the band take their name from a popular local Chinese cash and carry. They’ve only shared two singles so far, but are already hotly tipped to follow in the footsteps of fellow Mancunian bands Oasis, Joy Division and The Smiths. One of those singles, the epic 8 minute long Nothing Is, is accompanied by a video shot and directed by Rob James, which finds the band and friends performing the track live in an abandoned swimming pool.

Dive into the video up top and keep your eyes and ears peeled for more from W.H. Lung in the future. Oh and subscribe to the Mahogany Blog playlist on Spotify, it’s where all our favourite new tunes live
